The Endometriosis & Perimenopause Girl's 4th of July Survival Guide.

By Season Winter | Endometriosis Coach.

If you've ever skipped a celebration because your pelvis felt heavy, your jeans suddenly didn't fit, your energy disappeared, or your body decided that today was an "endo belly" day, this Survival Guide is for you!

The 4th of July can be fun without pushing through pain, overcommitting, or spending the next three days recovering.

This year, let's celebrate differently.

Your goal is simple:

Protect your energy. Protect your body. Enjoy the memories.

Here are my favorite endometriosis survival tips for women navigating endometriosis, pelvic pain, and perimenopause.

If You're Hosting at Home

Create a "Comfort Station"

Set up a small basket that is easy for you to get to when you need it. Some of my favorites to include:

  • A heating pad

  • A small fan

  • Electrolyte packets

  • A water bottle

  • Lip balm

  • Comfortable slippers

  • A lightweight blanket

Your body will thank you later.

Keep Food Simple

Skip the pressure to make 15 different dishes. Choose foods that leave you feeling good.

These are the must-haves when I am hosting:

Grilled chicken

Burgers or turkey burgers

Fresh fruit... Watermelon is a favorite

Pasta salad

Corn on the cob

Veggie platter

Gluten-free options if they work for you

Remember:

Don't feel guilty for asking guests to bring a dish as well or for having the party catered.

Pace Yourself

Do not clean your entire house the morning of the party.

Break tasks into smaller chunks.

Example:

  • The day before: grocery shop

  • Morning: set up decorations

  • Afternoon: rest for 30 minutes

  • Evening: enjoy your guests

Your body is not designed to run a marathon before a celebration.

Heading off to Someone Else's Celebration

Wear Your "Second Dinner Pants"

You know the pair.

The stretchy waistband.

The forgiving shorts.

The dress that doesn't squeeze your lower belly.

Wear them.

This is not the day for uncomfortable clothing.

Bring:

  • Water bottle

  • Electrolytes

  • Sunglasses

  • A protein snack

  • Pain relief items your provider recommends

  • Peppermint tea bags

  • A portable fan

  • A light sweater

You'll feel more relaxed knowing you're prepared.

Give yourself a chance to sit, relax, and enjoy.

You do not have to:

-Stand all day

-Play every yard game

- Stay for fireworks

- Be the last one there

Protecting your body is not rude.

Perimenopause + Summer Heat Tips

Many women in perimenopause notice they become more sensitive to heat, fatigue, dizziness, and dehydration.

A few simple things can help:

Drink water consistently throughout the day, and add electrolytes if you're sweating.

Take breaks in the shade.

Wear lightweight clothing.

Alternate alcoholic beverages with water.

Staying hydrated and limiting direct heat can help prevent overheating and dehydration, especially during outdoor events.

My 3 Endometriosis Survival Rules for Every 4th of July

Eat before you're starving Waiting too long can leave you feeling shaky, bloated, or exhausted.

Rest before you're exhausted. Don't wait until your body crashes.

Take breaks throughout the day.

Leave before your body begs you to. There is no prize for pushing through pain.

A Gentle Reminder

Your body may need a slower pace this year.

That doesn't mean you're missing out.

It means you're honoring what your body needs.

And that's something to celebrate.

Happy 4th of July. ❤️

Love,

Season Winter
